Conscious Nosh started out as a vegan macaroon company in Brooklyn, NY. It quickly became popular in many coffee shops and boutique stores in Manhattan and Brooklyn. It spread into the online sales world and moved into California... So where are they now? The coconut water industry has exploded in the past couple years. Big companies have bought out coconut plantations all over Asia. The cost of wholesale coconut has gone up 300-400% since we started making these treats. The price increase didn't close us down (although it definitely changed the game a bit), but I started thinking about this health food product industry and the impact on the environment through mass production of coconut and coconut products, shipping across the world, and the impact it might have on the communities that this coconut comes from. I've decided to halt the mass production of these awesome cookies. Instead, I'm focusing on creating a more local and sustainable product (that will not be mass produced, but available in small batches), and focusing on food as a whole, not just dessert. Thank you so much for your support through eating these things, and I hope to feed you with something else in the future. The chili-maple-vanilla cocomoon will forever be epic.
