I practice a holistic approach to health and wellness, which means that I look at how all areas of your life are connected. Does stress at your job or in your relationship cause you to overeat? Does lack of sleep or low energy prevent you from exercising? As we work together, we look at how all parts of your life affect your health as a whole.

A health health counselor is a wellness guide and supportive mentor. Together, we’ll work to achieve your goals in areas such as achieving optimal weight, food cravings, sleep and energy. Through working with me, you’ll develop a deeper understanding of the foods and lifestyle choices that work best for you and implement lasting changes that will improve your energy, balance and health.

Bio-individuality
The concept of bio-individuality is that each person has her or his own food and lifestyle needs. So, when the experts say, “dairy is good for you” or “fat is unhealthy,” it doesn’t apply to everyone. One person’s food is another person’s poison, and that’s why fad diets tend to fail in the long run. Working on the principle of bio-individuality, I’ll support you in making positive changes that are based on your unique needs, lifestyle, personal preferences, and background. Instead of prescribing one fix for all people, I use a personalized, holistic approach that is based on your needs.

Everything is food
We are not only fed by food but by other factors in our lives. Healthy relationships, a fulfilling career, regular physical activity and a spiritual practice are essential forms of nourishment. When these “primary foods” are balanced, what you eat becomes secondary.

The Integrative Nutrition food pyramid focuses on nourishing food and lifestyle choices. Our wellness pyramid emphasizes the importance of high quality vegetables, fruits, complex carbohydrates, proteins, healthy fats and water. To complete the picture, the pyramid is surrounded with lifestyle factors that create optimal heath: relationship, career, physical activity and spirituality.

Why work with a health counselor ?  

    Have you set yourself up with a (health) goal and ended up not doing it? Are you ready right NOW to follow through on your dreams and visions for yourself? Do you want to learn about health and nutrition? Health counseling is for people who know that they are ready to take on their health and wellness. Imagine a whole program designed to your personal goals. Your investment includes one-on-one sessions with a certified health counselor who will help you get to the root of your struggles and rise up to the challenge. It also includes supplements and classes to support your journey.  Some packages include bodywork and chiropractic sessions, personal training, live blood analysis, and cooking classes. Working with me, you don't just have a coach, you have a whole community of incredible healers who are looking out for you. 

What if I don't know what my health "goals" are? 

    Would you like to have more energy, less stress, wake up feeling rested and inspired, heal digestive problems, reach your idea body weight, cook at home, start a meditation/yoga/exercise practice, learn about nutrition and your body type, make more money, or strengthen your personal relationships? During an initial consultation I will help you understand more about your personal health goals and how I can support you in them.

Do I have to eat only kale and quinoa if I'm going to work with you? or/  do I have to "go vegan"? 
    No one diet works for everyone. I have studied a wide range of dietary theories and believe that everyone has their own unique relationship to food. The key is learning how to listen to your bodies needs. Through a health history consultation and some experimentation, I will help you understand your nutritional needs. Sometimes it is useful to do nutritional analysis or food sensitivity tests, but in most cases we can work together to find a balance without testing. Through the course of our work together, you will learn about different dietary theories and be invited to try new and sometimes unique foods. 

What if I travel or live far away? 
    I offer phone and skype sessions for my clients who are out of the area or travel. Program materials are sent in the mail and classes and bodywork sessions are scheduled in your area.

How do I make an appointment with you? 
     Initial consultations are usually done on Mondays and Tuesdays. We can work on another time if that does not work for you. You can send an email through the contact form, or call (503) 915-6954  to set up an appointment.
